Christmas has come a little early for me as I've just ordered a furling gennaker from Elvstrom. It's been the missing sail from our inventory as the non-overlapping jib means that whilst we are great upwind we lose any drive from that sail when we are off the wind. In light winds that's been a problem but the gennaker should sort all of that. It's on a furler so it should be very easy to manage and it will save us switching the engine on in light winds. The sail has a wide range of effectiveness and so it will also act as an oversized genoa when we are beam reaching in light airs. Best of all, it is orange, all over. You will certainly see us coming!

Takes forever. So many small and time-consuming things to do to get everything ready for the big day. Big long lists and lots of detail. As we are picking the boat up in Slovenia, there's no option of popping back home to pick up forgotten items so we need to try and remember everything we need to keep us going. Our plan is to have some stuff shipped out to Slovenia on a pallet and we will drive out there with another mountain of stuff. Will there be enough storage space or will we lose the second cabin to piles of unnecessary gear? Luckily the car is not that big so that slows us down a bit. I hope.
